When: February 17

Courageous and Respectful Conversation on Immigration

Immigration:
Threat? Menace?
Engine for Economic Growth?
Opportunity for Biblical Growth?

This session is intended for adults of all ages and is not limited to those
who consider themselves part of the JOURNEYS ministry.

These days conversations about divisive issues can become emotional and we shy away from them because they sometimes become pick-a-side and argue-it-out events. As Christians we can do better than that and need to be courageous in face to face situations. On Saturday, February 17 from 9:00-11:30 a.m., the JOURNEYS group will sponsor a Courageous and Respectful Conversation on the topic of Immigration. We will begin at Salem at 8:45 a.m. with a continental breakfast and will be led during the rest of the morning by Bill Woodson.

Bill is a member of First Covenant Church in Minneapolis and is a current Ph.D. student at the University of Minnesota. This session is intended for adults of all ages and is NOT limited to those who consider themselves a part of the JOURNEYS ministry. It is our intent that those who attend will have difficult conversations in an environment where all God’s people experience mutual respect. Our hope is that participants will engage in the issue of immigration at a new depth, and become more culturally competent through this time of interaction and discussion.
