Community Bible Experience – Resources and Links
Salem is participating in the Community Bible Experience (CBE)—an 8-week challenge to read the entire New Testament—from February 12 to April 7. If you do not have your copy yet, additional copies of The Books of the Bible New Testament (NIV) have been ordered and will be available in the Narthex for $5 this Sunday, February 19.
Community Bible Experience is a different way to read the Bible: less like a reference book, more like a story. CBE is a lot simpler than most Bible studies or church-wide campaigns. It consists of a few basic ingredients—a Bible unlike any other, a 40-day reading plan, and five discussion questions:
- What’s something you noticed for the first time?
- What questions did you have?
- Was there anything that bothered you?
- What did you learn about loving God?
- What did you learn about loving others?
Watch the video to learn more.
Here are some helpful links as we read and learn together:
- Bookmark with the reading plan and discussion questions.
- Resources for Children and Families—There are CBE children’s bookmarks and a Family Resource Guide available online and at Salem to help families dig into this experience together.
- Audio versions of each reading are available online:
- Children – Use this audio adaptation of The Books of the Bible to explore the New Testament with your children. The kids’ audio version includes a 10-15 minute episode for each day of your Community Bible Experience reading campaign. You can download the whole thing as a single zip file or you can listen online, one track at a time.
- Youth – (scroll down to find resources) A spotify playlist inspired by artists that played at CHIC 2015 is available along with an adaptation of the five questions, specifically geared to youth.
- Adults – Not a big reader? Want to listen as you read? No problem. You can download copy of The Books of the Bible: Audio New Testament, narrated by Max McLean. To make it easy to follow along, each day’s reading is a single track.
