Salem Mission Trip to Czech Republic Travel Blog
The Team
Salem members Dave and Beth Hamilton, Mark Nygaard, and Don Vavrosky took part in a Czech Republic mission trip this summer.
They served with eight other Americans from Brick Lane Community Church in Elverson, PA at the invitation of the Církev bratrská (“Brethren Church”) in the Czech Republic.
These pictures below are from the first meeting of the Minnesota and Pennsylvania teammates on the morning after they arrived in the Czech Republic.
Also included in the pictures are Radim and Míla, the Czech couple from the “Brethren Church.”
The Location
The team taught English lessons at Hotel Permonik.
The hotel is a resort located in the Bekid Mountains.
The Mission
The group taught English to 95 students of all ages.
Here’s a look at the daily schedule in English and Czech.
The English camp was held from July 20 to July 27.
Spiritual Element
Along with teaching English, the camp also featured Bible reading and praise and worship every night with testimonials and a message.
The picture below is Don’s Bible Reading Group singing Amazing Grace in the Evening Talent Show.
Highlights from the camp included relationships that were formed and a renewing of faith by the students.
Sight Seeing
After the English Camp ended, team members did some sight seeing.
They also visited old friends.

Salem has a history of sending teams to English camps in the Czech Republic.
The last pictures are from the first visit of any Salem member since 2019 to the town of Trhové Sviny, in South Bohemia, where Salem sent teams every summer from 2014 to 2019.

We thank God for the English learners, teachers, and people of the Czech Republic!
