Salem’s Second Oldest Member Turns 100 and Shares her Secret to her Long Life

Salem’s second oldest member turned 100!

Muriel was born March 16, 1923.

Salem leadership and staff celebrated the milestone with cake, coffee, balloons, and singing.

Even singing “Happy Birthday” in Swedish!

There was lots of reminiscing.

Muriel recalled having milk delivered by horse and buggy and working for Hubert Humphrey when he was mayor of Minneapolis.

She was baptized at Salem.

“I have so many good from being at Salem—all the different pastors and friends,” Muriel said.

Pastor Mark offered a prayer of thanks for Muriel’s life and faithfulness.

“God bless her. Continue to grant her good health,” Pastor Mark said.

The centenarian shared her secret to her long life.

“My faith in God, my Christian parents, my family now, and clean living. I didn’t smoke or drink,” Muriel said.

Muriel isn’t slowing down.

She hopes to take a hot air balloon ride in the future.

Happy 100th Birthday, Muriel!
