Yogadevotion is a practice of breath, prayer, and movement led by a trained yoga instructor. Yogadevotion helps to encourage healthy living and a peaceful presence. Getting up and down off the floor can be difficult for many reasons. This Yogadevotion class incorporates poses that increase range of motion, improve balance and bring attention to the breath, all using a chair as yoga props.
Whether you are just beginning to explore the benefits of yoga or an experienced yogi, you are welcomed to this community.
Yogadevotion LLC classes begin in the breath, centering ourselves in the Presence of God—setting aside all that distracts us from the relationship God intends for us. Our devotional time is at the beginning of the class, opening with Scripture that speaks to a practice of faith, during the breath work. Reflections on the Scripture are written by Pastor Cindy Senarighi, an ordained pastor. Getting up and down off the floor can be difficult for many reasons. This Yogadevotion class incorporates poses that increase range of motion, improve balance and bring attention to the breath, all using a chair as yoga props. We use music in our classes as well as silence to intentionally listen for God’s voice. The classes close with restorative yoga, a practice of calm alertness that allows a time of reflection and thanksgiving for God’s Presence in our lives. The faith-based language you will hear in class is familiar—the benediction, invocation, and prayer that closes the class. This class is for all levels as Yogadevotion LLC teaches that the primary teacher is your own body and that voice is the important one. Modifications are offered for all poses.
Some of our class attendees shared with us why they keep coming:
Yogadevotion is my pause on Tuesday evenings to take care of myself, physically, mentally, and spiritually. I had never done yoga before starting Yoga devotion. I was initially concerned that I might not be able to do yoga due to some physical limitations. Josie, the leader, is great at suggesting alternative movements for individual needs. My strength and balance have improved and the devotions paired with breathing are a wonderfully calming.
I really appreciated my Tuesday night yoga devotions. I was reminded that yoga is for everyone, even if you are not very flexible, like me! While the stretching, strengthening, and breathing improved my physical and mental health, the weekly Scriptures, readings, and meditative sessions all fed me spiritually. Yoga devotion is a blessing.
I was a little apprehensive if this class was something I would be able to do, or not. The class members were all encouraged by our great instructor to do what we “could do” and she always offered modifications. No pressure! I was amazed by what I was able to do and yet feel the many benefits of the stretching as well as feeling relaxed and refreshed after the class. I loved how Bible Scriptures were read each week and how we focused on a breath prayer throughout the practice time. Yogadevotion is a great class!
