Come for a Sunday evening of prayer and reflection rooted in the centuries-old tradition of evensong. The season we are in has left people feeling isolated and filled with lament. We will use Psalm 13 to name our laments and to stand alongside our friends and neighbors.

Come for an evening of fellowship, fun, and learning the skill of two-dimensional needle felting! Needle felting on a flat background is like painting or coloring with wool fiber—color is added with a
long thin needle. We will be using kits that include printed guides, video tutorial help, and materials to make it beginner-friendly. Kits will be started during our time and assistance will be given to help
you continue your project on your own. Certain kits may sell out so pick your top three choices in the registration. Cost is $35; register by January 25.

New Brighton’s own cookie artist extraordinaire, Mama Mel (Melanie Davis), turns cookies into artwork! Join us as we learn her icing techniques and take home some fun and yummy treats. If
you have ever wanted to learn how to use royal icing, this is the place to start! February will feature Valentine cookies (adults and youth Grade 6+ accompanied by an adult) and March will feature

We will be reading and discussing the book Welcoming the Stranger: Justice, Compassion & Truth in the Immigration Debate by Jenny Yang and Matthew Soerens. Immigration is one of the most complicated issues of our time. Voices on all sides argue strongly for action and change. Christians find themselves torn between the desire to uphold laws and the call to minister to the vulnerable. Copies of the book are available on Amazon. We will be discussing two chapters each time we meet. Registration required.

Journey alongside a small group of women as we use contemplative practices to explore the intersection of our embodied and spiritual lives. This 8-week class is designed to be relational and rejuvenating. Through slow, simple processes, we will practice “wonder” and appreciate the miracle of our bodies—exactly as they are—as made in God’s image and part of God’s good design. The class includes reflection, contemplation and discussion. Space is limited. All women are welcome to register.

Equipment provided but bring your paddles if you desire. The February 15 session will be open to children Grade 3+ with an adult (registration required for February 15).

Bring a snack to share if you wish. The January 18 game night will be open to Grade 3+ with an adult, and the February 15 and March 15 game nights will be open to Grade 6+. No registration required.

Threads is a ministry for students (Grades 6–12) that weaves (and knits and sews) learning and serving together by pairing meaningful books with hands on projects. As students read and discuss each book’s theme, they also complete a service project that puts those ideas into action. Each gathering becomes a chance to grow in awareness and compassion, to deepen faith, and to make a real impact—one thread at a time. January’s book is Everything Sad is Untrue by Daniel Nayeri. Students are responsible for obtaining their own books via the library or elsewhere. For some books, contact Shelli to see if if she has a book to loan you, as she has reserved some from the library.
