At Salem, everyone with an interest and passion for worship through music is invited to develop their skills, share their gifts, and glorify God through a variety of musical groups. Explore opportunities for all ages and abilities and sign up today.
Ages 0–5 (with attending adult)
Wednesdays, 6:00–6:40 pm
Children, alongside parents, incorporate music, movement, and sensory-motor exploration with faith stories and spiritual growth during this free weekly class.
Grades 1–5
Wednesdays, 5:50–6:40 pm
Praise Singers learn about music in worship, theory skills, and vocal technique in a fun environment! The group will sing 4–6 times per year during both Traditional and Contemporary services.
Grades 6–8
Wednesdays, 6:00–6:40 pm
Students learn music basics such as theory, reading, tone and breath support, music in worship, and much more, all in preparation to sing in the Traditional service throughout the year.
Grades 9–12
Wednesdays, 8:10–9:00 pm
This high school music group leads worship in Traditional services throughout the year, singing a blend of modern and classical church music. Students with a love of music and a positive, willing spirit are welcome to join.
Grade 8 and above
Thursdays, 6:00–7:30 pm
The Handbell Ensemble is an advanced group who glorify God by playing English handbells at six to eight Traditional services per year and at the Christmas Concert. Prior music reading skills are encouraged—ringing techniques will be taught at rehearsal.
High School and above
Wednesdays, 7:00–8:30 pm
As the primary choir of the Traditional Service, the Sanctuary Choir offers an opportunity to worship, fellowship, and have fun together. The choir sings at three out of every four Sundays.
Rehearsals for intergenerational ensembles are on an as-needed basis. Keep an eye on our weekly bulletins for information.
High School and above
The Brass Ensemble is featured during a variety of worship services throughout the year. Groups may play solos, in groups, accompaniments, or lead the congregation in worship.
High School and above
The String Ensemble is open to any string player who has three or more years of playing experience. The ensemble may play for Christmas programs or worship services throughout the year as accompanists or soloists.
Grade 6 and above
The Salem Wind Ensemble is a large, multigenerational wind and percussion ensemble open to those with at least two years’ experience with a wind or percussion instrument. The group typically performs twice a year during a Traditional Worship Service and in the annual Salem Christmas Concert.
Rehearsals for heritage ensembles are on an as-needed basis.
All ages
Join us in singing songs of Swedish heritage in both English and Swedish. Swedish language and pronunciation are taught and reviewed during the rehearsals.
High School and above
The String Band plays gospel songs accompanied by guitar, mandolin, violin, ukulele, etc. String Band is open to anyone above the beginner level who plays a stringed instrument and enjoys singing and playing familiar gospel music.
High School and above
Volunteers are needed in the audio-visual area during both the Traditional and Contemporary services. Volunteers run the sound board, the worship slides, and the livestream. Training is provided for all positions.
