Kindergarten-12th Grade
At Salem’s Youth Pursuits, we lean into what kids love most—from the excitement of sports and the creativity of arts and crafts to the wonder of animals. Every activity is a bridge to growing closer to Christ and building meaningful friendships. For our older students, we offer StepUp!, a specialized program designed to transform participants into confident leaders through character-building responsibilities. This year’s VBS program is entitled “Illumination Station” and we’ll be shining a light on who Jesus really is. Campers will discover the true nature of Jesus as the Light of the World—the promised, perfect, powerful, and proven Son of God.

VBS And Youth Pursuit Volunteers Needed!
Looking to add a little fun to your summer schedule while experiencing the pure joy of a child learning about Jesus’ love? Do both by sharing your gift of time at VBS and Youth Pursuits (YP) camps! Whether you can offer a little time or a lot, prefer high-energy fun or something more low-key, there is a place for everyone. Learn more about how you can share your time while making meaningful memories this summer!
Want to volunteer but have a child not yet eligible for VBS? Don’t let that hold you back! Preschool VBS and nursery are available at no cost to children of VBS volunteers. You’ll receive a link to register after you’ve connected with Lynn. Contact Children and Family Director Lynn McDonald about VBS or Youth and Young Adult Director Shelli Streeper about YP Camps.
High School Sunday School
Offered during school year, during the Sunday Education Hour 10:10-10:50 am
High schoolers (9th-12th grade) gather weekly during the Education Hour to learn about God’s Word, fellowship with other students, and go deeper in their faith and relationships with one another.
Middle School Confirmation
Offered during school year, during the Sunday Education Hour 10:10-10:50 am
Confirmation helps middle school students (6th-8th grade) explore, engage in, and deepen their relationship with God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. Through this Sunday morning class, they will learn the foundations of their faith and get equipped to live out that faith as a part of Christ’s church.
Required classes include:
- Old Testament Survey
- New Testament Survey
- Foundations of Faith
Upon completion of these three classes, students will be confirmed at Salem Covenant Church and be equipped to lead the life, mission, and ministry God has for them.
Youth Group
Wednesdays, 6:30-7:45 pm
Middle School: 6th–8th grade
High School: 9th–12th grade
Wednesday night youth group is an opportunity for students to connect with friends, play games, hear a faith-filled lesson, and discuss with friends in small groups to deepen their faith.
Threads Ministry
4th Sunday of the month from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Middle and High School Students
Threads is a student ministry that weaves (and knits and sews) learning and serving together by pairing meaningful books with hands-on projects. As students read and discuss each book’s theme, they also complete a service project that puts those ideas into action. Each gathering becomes a chance to grow in awareness, compassion, deepen faith, and make a real impact—one thread at a time. Please Let Youth Director Shelli Streeper know if you are planning to attend.
Special Events
Youth group is just the beginning—we also offer a variety of special events, activities, and more throughout the year! Past events include:
- Partnering with Emmanuel Covenant for epic game nights
- Bowling, snow tubing, and Zero Gravity hangouts
- Yearly retreats
- Mission trips, including our trip to Esperanza Viva Youth Home in Mexico
- Salem Arts & Crafts Fair (Youth Ministries Fundraiser)
